Detailed Tour Itinerary for 5 Days Safari in Murchison Falls.
Day 1: Pick up in Entebbe and City Tour.
Arrival in Entebbe: Your guide from Explore Rwanda Tours will pick you up from the airport in Entebbe where you will embark on a short tour to some exotic destinations in Entebbe.
City Tour: Depending on your time of arrival in Uganda, you can have your guide drive you to the Uganda Wildlife Education Center where you will take a full tour of the zoo. You can also opt to embark on a chimpanzee habituation experience at Ngamba Islands. Chimpanzee habituation experience in Ngamba Islands can be done for the whole day or half day, with half day sessions being conducted from 8am to 12pm in the morning and from 1pm to 6pm in the evening. You will have a good opportunity to learn more about the chimpanzees and also get to take part in the feeding sessions.
Later drive back to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay at Protea Hotel
Day 2: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park.
Transfer to Murchison Falls: Wake up early in the morning and have a heartfelt breakfast before checking out of your hotel. Your guide will pick you up from your hotel and proceed with your drive to Murchison Falls National Park. You will stopover at the equator monuments in Kayabwe for some pictures and later proceed with your voyage to the park. You will have lunch enroute to Murchison Falls.
Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary: You will have a stopover at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary where you will get to see rhinos in the wild. The sanctuary is the only destination where visitors can get to see rhinos in their natural habitat. There are other wildlife animals that you can spot at the sanctuary like; zebras, the Shoe Bill stork, and antelopes to mention but a few.
Proceed with your drive to Murchison falls national park where your will drive to your lodge for dinner and accommodation at Heritage Safari Lodge/Pakuba Safari Lodge/Paraa Safari Lodge.
Day 3: Morning Game Drive and Afternoon Boat Cruise.
Morning Game Drive: After breakfast, you will head for an early morning game drive which will start at 7am. You will board a ferry at Paara at 7am and cross over to the northern part of the national park which is endowed with a variety of wildlife. The game drive takes about 1-2 hours in the park and you can be accompanied by a trained park ranger. While on the game drive, you will get the opportunity to view include warthogs, buffaloes, and elephants, giraffes among others and bird species like a saddle – billed stork, majestic grey crowned crane, handsome black-headed spur-winged lapwings and many more. Return to your lodge for lunch and rest for a while.
Boat Cruise: After having your delicious Lunch, head out later in the afternoon for a boat cruise on the Albert Nile. While on your boat cruise, you will get a panoramic view of the majestic and mighty Murchison falls. Spend quality time marveling at nature’s beautiful gifts and enjoy seeing crocodiles, hippos and various bird species such as the Kingfisher, cormorants, and the Rare Shoebill Stork among others.
Hike to Top of the Falls (Optional): Later proceed with your drive to Murchison Falls national park. Upon your arrival at the park, you will embark on a guided nature walk to the Top of the falls. The hike starts off at Barker’s point taking you through the devil’s cauldron and finally winds up at Murchison falls. This hiking expedition can take about 2 to 3 hours depending on your pace.
Later drive back to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 4: Chimpanzee Trekking in Budongo Forest.
Chimpanzee Trekking: Have your breakfast and then drive to Budongo Forest where you will be engaged in a day of chimpanzee tracking activity. While trekking through this large, verdant and tropical forest, get to explore the beautiful scenery as well as bird, insect and plant species. On this day, you will get to enjoy spending time with the playful chimpanzees of the forest. Don’t forget to carry your packaged lunch from your lodge which you can enjoy during your chimpanzee trekking expedition. Chimpanzee trekking in Budongo forest can take between 2 to 6 hours depending on how fast you locate the chimps. You will be given only an hour to spend with the chimps once they have been located.
After your chimpanzee trekking experience in Budongo forest, drive back to your hotel/lodge in Budongo for dinner and overnight at………………..
Day 5: Transfer Back to Kampala/Entebbe.
Transfer Back to Kampala/Entebbe: Wake up at leisure and have a hearty breakfast at your hotel/lodge. You will then check out and meet up with your guide/driver and proceed with your transfer back to Kampala or Entebbe depending on your return flight schedule. You can choose to have your guide drop you off at any hotel of your choice in Kampala or Entebbe, or directly at the airport where you will wait to board your flight back home. End of Tour.
