Accommodation in Akagera National Park
Accommodation in Akagera National Park varies from budget to mid-range and luxury lodging options. It is the only savannah national park in Rwanda and visitors can view savannah wildlife animals during a visit to the park. Some of the wildlife sighted in the national park include; hippos, buffaloes, elephants, giraffes, antelopes, Sitatunga, lions, hyenas, leopards, and impala among others.

Akagera Game Lodge
Akagera Game Lodge in Akagera national park is a top luxury, lodging facility located within the national park. It is one of the few accommodation options within the national park that offers its guests luxury services.
The lodge is strategically located in the southern section of the national park. The lodge is constructed on a hill overlooking the popular Lake Ihema. The lodge has a total of 60 spacious rooms, each with a terrace offering visitors great views of the lake and other amazing attractions in the national park.
Visitors staying at the lodge will testify to the fact that the lodge is more of a hotel than a traditional safari lodge. The services offered to guests staying at Akagera game lodge are top notch, with all staff attending to every little detail and request of the visitor. Akagera game lodge in Akagera national park is currently under the management of the Mantis resorts since 2018 and has undergone quite a number of renovations and upgrades over the recent year. The lodge is still undergoing a couple of refurbishments until March 2020, although visitors can access most of the rooms and other areas of the lodge.

Karenge Bush Camp
Karenge Bush Camp in Akagera national park is one of the upscale bush camps in Rwanda. The camp derives its name from a local Kinyarwanda word, ‘Karenge’ which means ‘small foot’ in English.
This bush camp is located in the northern part of Akagera, and is a simple and serene accommodation facility in the national park. The camp is quite the safari getaway retreat, with only 6 tents, and able to house a maximum of 12 guests visiting the national park.
Each of the tents in Karenge Bush Camp can accommodate two guests. The tents are quite spacious and have amenities like; comfortable camp beds, solar lights and lanterns, en-suite bathrooms with warm water provided, and solar fridges to store your cold drinks.
Visitors staying in the camp are entitled to free breakfast meals, which are served to guests warm, depending on what you have ordered for. Visitors can also enjoy mouth- watering dinner meals beside a campfire that is lit in the camp. Having a delicious meal under the stars while chilling around the campfire is such an amazing experience that any visitor staying at the bush camp can get to enjoy.

Magashi Safari Camp
Magashi Safari Camp is located in the northern part of Akagera National Park. Magashi Safari Camp is a new and luxurious safari camp. It overlooks Lake Rwanyakazinga offering breath-taking views and is a great spot for one to chill and relax. The camp opened in early 2019, and aims at providing high-end accommodation in a scenic safari area.
The camp is the only accommodation facility is located in the northern part of the park and is expected to be a fantastic inclusion to a high-end Rwandan safari camp.
Magashi Safari Camp offers a great range of activities which include; guided nature walks, boat cruise, game drive, swimming at the Lodge’s pool, spa treatment and fitness activities at the lodge’s well equipped gym.
Ruzizi Tented Lodge
Ruzizi Tented Lodge is a simple but comfortable safari lodge, with a commendable eco policy. It’s a simple, eco-friendly lodge located within the park itself. The lodge is in a good position to explore the varying landscapes of Akagera, given its close proximity to the main gate, south of the park. Since it was first opened in 2012, Ruzizi Tented Lodge has proved a welcome addition to the national park.
The food served at the lodge’s restaurant is excellent, considering the power sources, and the location is beautiful and serene. This accommodation facility is opened all year round makes a nice stop as part of a longer trip around Rwanda.
