During the trip to the napoleon island you will get to know the dark history attached to the island were a number of Tutsis who went to the island to seek refuge from the Hutu who were killing a number of people. When the Tutsis hid at the Island, the Hutu got to know and burnt the whole island and all the property that was there killing over 1000 Tutsis on the island which was such a devastating time for them. Other island on Lake Kivu that can be visited include; serene island, Peace Island or Amahoro Island and many more.
