National parks
Uganda has ten national parks spread throughout several conservation zones. Uganda National Parks are home to a variety of natural sites and reasons why many people visit Uganda in search of rewarding activities. The 10 Most Beautiful Uganda National Parks includes;
Murchison Falls National Park This park is Uganda’s largest National Park and measures 3,887 km2 in the North-West of the country, close to the city of Masindi. It was established in 1952 not only because of its beautiful savannah grassland, but also because of the famous Murchison Falls: Here, the waters of the River Nile squeeze through a narrow gorge of 7 m, before plunging 43 m below. In addition, it is Uganda’s oldest conservation area, hosting 76 species of mammals and 451 birds
Queen Elizabeth National Park is situated in the South-Western region of Uganda near the town of Kasese. It was founded in 1952 as Kazinga National Park, but renamed two years later to commemorate a visit by Queen Elizabeth II. The National Park occupies approximately 1,978 km2 extending from Lake George to Lake Edward and hosting the Kazinga Channel connecting these two lakes. Known for its wildlife (e.g. buffaloes, crocodiles, elephants, leopards, Congo lions, etc.), the park is also famous for its volcanic features including volcanic crones, deep craters and crater lakes.
Kibale Forest National Park This National Park is located close to the town of Fort Portal in Western Uganda and covers a surface of 776 km2. Established in 1993, it has one of the highest diversity and concentration of primates in the world, whereby it is mostly known for its habituated chimpanzee population. Furthermore, it contains both lowland and pre-montane moist evergreen forest. Other natural sites include Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Lake Mburo National Park, and Kidepo Valley National Park. All of Uganda’s National Parks provide a true African safari experience with wildlife watching and trekking. Murchison Falls, Bwindi Impenetrable, Kidepo Valley, are among the best natural sites in the world.
Amabere Ga Nyinamwiru caves
The stalactites and stalagmites which met in the middle, actively support this cave. Local tradition has it that whoever touches these formations will get lost in the caves or be visited by misfortune. Amabere ga Nyinamwiru. means Breasts of Nyinamwiru and refers to a live stalactite formation supposedly shaped like a pair of breasts.
According to tradition, Nyinamwiru was the daughter of a king, so beautiful that no man could leave her alone and continuously plagued by marital proposals from unsuitable suitors. Bukuku, the king cut off Nyinamwiru breasts in the hope they would reduce her charms, but even this was not enough to deter his lovely daughter’s admirers, so eventually, he hid her away in the caves. While there, Nyinamwiru was impregnated by the Tembuzi king, Isaza to give birth to Ndahura, the future founder of the Chwezi dynasty, and lacking breasts herself –She fed the infant with cloudy limestone ‘milk’ that drips from the breast-like stalactites.
Misa Caves
The Misa cave of Uganda is more than just a geological wonder, the caves are located in the central region of Uganda, area a series of limestones formations shaped over millennia by natural processes. Semwama Hill Caves of Uganda
This flat-topped granite outcrop contains a network of shelters and caves that are traditionally held sacred by the local people and also provided them refuge against invaders. The most accessible cave consists of two main chambers, known locally as “ebidongobo” or waiting rooms which are sometimes used as an overnight shelter for cattle. Within the chambers lies an ancient Chwezi shrine where offerings of leaves, seeds and straw can still be seen. The cave is said to have been where Kateboha of Munsa once held council with his elders and advisors, sitting above them on the flat slab of stone in the main chamber. From this opening you can scramble up a succession of rock chimneys, assisted in one or two places by rough ladders, then a near-vertical rock face to the top of the hill.
Jinga – the source of the river Nile

Source of the river Nile is one of the natural sites in Uganda, the Nile derived its name famous Greek word simply meaning valley. The river starts from the Northeastern part of Africa. It flows from the surrounding areas close to the equator to the outrageous Safari desert and up to the eastern Mediterranean Sea. The river is about 6696km long and pours its water to over nine countries although it’s more cantered to Uganda as well as Egypt. Countries include Sudan, Burundi, Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania, Zair and Ethiopia. This famous river and longest comprises of two major twigs, the white and Blue Nile that connects in Khartoum to form the core Nile that is made up of Cataract Nile along with Egyptian Nile. The Nile River is renowned as one of the world’s longest waterways, impacting cultures, ecosystems and societies downstream. The source of the Nile is situated at the northern end of Lake Victoria, which is the largest lake in Africa. More so, its situated closed to town of Jinja, making this a charming town a treasure trove of experiences for travellers.
Waterfalls
Uganda is Mansa home to various fascinating and impressive waterfalls among others includes Sezibwa falls, which is situated in Mukono district in between Bugerere and Kyagwe kingdom-parishes, Sezibwa Falls holds significant spiritual value to the Baganda people. The falls have been one of the most important spots for the past and present Kabakas (kings of Buganda Kingdom). Former kings, Kabaka Mwanga and Kabaka Mutesa II are claimed to have tethered twins from this same spot. Besides the cultural values it holds, Sezibwa Falls attracts a great number of tourists. It’s a very good spot for Birding, enjoying culture, rock climbing, spiritual healing and relaxation. Other impressive waterfalls include Murchison falls, Busowoko falls, Itanda falls among others
Forest
Uganda is home to several forest which adds to the beauty of the country’s landscape some of the forest found in Uganda includes Mabira Forest, is one for the Uganda’s largest natural forest and most ecologically significantly rainforest, boasting a remarkable array of flora and fauna. this magnificent forest lies in Bukwei district. Mabira Forest is home to an astounding diversity of species, including over 300 bird species, 200 butterfly species, and a myriad of mammals, reptiles, and amphibians. Other forests include Budongo forest, Bugoma forest, maramagambo forest, kibale forest among others.
Lakes
Uganda is home to numerous and fascinating lakes that adds beauty to the countries, some of the lakes that can be found in Uganda includes Lake Victoria, Lake Victoria is the largest freshwater lake in Africa and the second largest in the world, with a surface area of about 68,800 sq. km shared between Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, lake Bunyonyi famously referred as the deepest lake in Uganda and the second in Africa. Other lakes include lake albert, lake George, lake Edward, lake Opeta, lake mutanda among others. There are also different captivating crater lakes around the country.
Mountains
Mountains are also one of the natural sites found also in Uganda. Uganda is the home to a variety of fascinating mountains and hills including the Virunga mountains such as mount Gahinga, mount hubabuva, mount Sabyinyo, mount Rwenzori, mount Moroto, mount Elgon among others. All offering a remarkable nature experiences to travellers and a clear view of the surrounding. These mountains are also dwells to a lot of flora ad fauna such as wildlife species and birds as well as primate’s mong others.
