Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge
Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge is a 5- Star luxury accommodation facility located in Volcanoes National Park. The lodge is located at the foothill of the Virunga ranges with explicit views of the five volcanoes in Rwanda and the neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo.

The lodge is a sister lodge to the renowned ‘Governors Camp’ in Kenya’s Masai Mara. The lodge derived its name from the extinct volcanic mountain called ‘Sabyinyo’ found in the Virunga mountain ranges.
Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge in Volcanoes national park is situated amidst a beautiful and green landscape with its buildings made from local stone with brown roof tiles. The Lodge has gardens which are well kept with beautiful lily flowers.
The Lodge in Volcanoes national park has six cottage rooms, two VIP suites and a family cottage for guests travelling with children. The rooms are spacious, have a walk- in bathroom with Hot water available, beautiful wall hangings and paintings as well.
The rooms in the lodge have other amenities such as; a dressing table, a minibar stocked with bottled water and bottles of wine for their guests. The rooms also have a comfortable sitting area with a fire place to keep warm during cold evenings and a private balcony.
The suites in the lodge are relatively large as compared to the cottages with a separate lounge area and television. The family cottage has two spacious en-suite bathrooms joined by a shared balcony. The lodge has a main lobby with outdoor decks, large and comfortable sofas where one can sit, relax and take in the beautiful views of the landscape especially the Virunga Mountains.
The lodge also has a fine restaurant where guests can wine and dine to fine meals prepared by the lodge’s experienced and creative chefs. The lodge has two dining areas; one inside with a fire place for cold nights and the second outside.
Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge in Volcanoes national park has the following amenities that guest staying at the lodge can enjoy; free Wi-Fi internet, laundry services, free parking, 24 hour power supply and Cable TV, first aid kit and an on- call house doctor. The lodge is also a 30 minute drive away from a hospital in Musanze in case of any emergencies.

Mountain Gorilla Trekking:
The lodge is a great place to be for anyone going on a gorilla trekking safari in Volcanoes National Park. The lodge is situated close to the park’s headquarters and therefore it’s easy and convenient for guests to journey to the park and back to the lodge. The national park has a total of 17 habituated gorilla groups with 12 available for tracking by tourists.
Cultural Tours:
Cultural tours organized by Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge are the best! The lodge has an activity center where it organizes cultural tours for its guests at a cost. The cultural tours include visits to the surrounding local villages and markets; and with this, guests have a chance to interact with the locals in the communities.
Birding:
Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge offers its visitors birding tours that are conducted in Volcanoes national park. Guests staying at the lodge can easily go bird watching in the morning and evening. Guests have a high chance of seeing bird species like; the African Green Broadbill, Lagden’s Bush-shrike, African Spoonbill, Yellow billed Stock to mention but a few.

How to Get to Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge.
Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge is a 20 minute drive from the park’s headquarters in Kinigi. The lodge is approximately 2½-3 hours’ drive from Kigali City in Rwanda and can also be accessed by air with domestic flights from Kigali International Airport to Kihihi Airport.
