The 3 days Bwindi gorilla safari takes you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, which is also considered to be the ‘gorilla capital’ of East Africa. The national park is located in the southwestern part of Uganda in Kanungu district. Your 3 days Bwindi gorilla trekking safari begins in with a pickup in Kampala and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable national park. You will trek mountain gorillas early morning on day two and later embark on a Batwa trail experience. On day three, transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for a morning boat ride and then drive back to Kampala, which will make the end of your 3 days Bwindi safari in Uganda.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up and Transfer to Bwindi National Park.
- Pickup & Transfer to Bwindi: Start your day early in the morning with breakfast at your hotel in Kampala. Your guide from Explore Rwanda Tours will pick you up from your hotel and you will embark on a long road trip to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Your transfer from Kampala to Bwindi will take between 9 to 10 hours depending on which sector of the park you travelling to. You will have a stopover at the Equator monuments in Kayabwe, where you will take some pictures and visit some of the roadside craft shops. You can also ease yourself and grab a few refreshments and snacks for the road.
- You will have another stopover for lunch at Igongo Cultural Center, just a few kilometers from Mbarara City. After lunch, proceed with your drive to Bwindi national park. Upon your arrival in the park, you will check into your lodge for dinner and accommodation.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking and Batwa Trail Experience.
- Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi: On day 2 of your 3 days Bwindi gorilla trekking safari, you will have to wake up really early in the morning since you will be doing gorilla trekking. Gorilla trekking in Bwindi national park starts at 8am in the morning. However, you are expected to report at the park headquarters by 7am for a briefing from the park’s head ranger. After your briefing, you will be placed in trekking groups depending on which gorilla group you will be tracking. Each trekking group consists of a maximum of eight members per group. Gorilla trekking in Bwindi national park lasts between four to eight hours or even more, depending on how long it will take you to locate a specific gorilla group. Once you have located your gorilla group, you will be given only an hour to spend with the gorillas. You can later have your packed lunch and relax for a while.
- Batwa Trail Experience: The Batwa trail experience is one of the most interesting and adventurous activities that are conducted in the park. This hiking experience is conducted by local Batwa guides in Bwindi impenetrable forest. You will get to learn a lot including how to hunt using tradition hunting tools and methods, how to use herbs to medicinal purposes and so much more. You will have an opportunity to interact with some of the Batwa local, who are also referred to as Pygmies.
- Head back to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Boat Ride on Lake Bunyonyi and Transfer back to Kampala.
- Morning Boat Ride: Today marks the last day of your 3 days Bwindi Gorilla Trekking Safari in Uganda. Have your breakfast in the morning and later drive to Lake Bunyonyi where you will embark on a morning boat cruise to the lake. You will get to visit one of the 29 islands on the lake such as ‘the punishment island.’ This island is for being an isolated island, where long ago girls who got pregnant out of wedlock were abandoned to.
- Transfer back to Kampala: Have lunch at Lake Bunyonyi Overland Resort and later transfer back to Kampala. Your driver/guide will drop you off at any hotel of your choice in Kampala.
