Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Congo

Pick up and transfer to Congo: On the first day of your 6 days Congo and Rwanda safari upon your arrival in Rwanda at Kigali International Airport where you will be met by your guide for your safari who will pick you from the airport and transfer you to Goma where you will be transferred to the Congo border at the Grand Barrier for check-in, issuing of the necessary permits will be carried out, you will get your gorilla trekking permit among other permits, visas and many more thereafter you will transfer to Virunga National Park the world’s largest lava lake that can be found on mount Nyiragongo and the home to the home to the endangered mountain gorillas that can be seen during gorilla trekking in Congo gorilla trekking. When you reach the park, you will transfer to your lodge for lunch and refreshments. In the evening, you will have dinner relaxation as you get ready for next day’s activities.

Day 2: Virunga Gorilla Trekking in Congo

Virunga Gorilla Trekking: On day two of your 6 days Congo and Rwanda safari after your early morning breakfast, you will report to Bukima post where you will participate in the briefing session and with your passports and your gorilla trekking permit you will participate in the registration process you will also have a briefing session about gorilla trekking in the park where you will get to know the rules and regulations to follow during the activity and when you get in contact with the gorillas and later on head to the forest to participate in gorilla trekking. During the activity, you will get to see a number of attractions like numerous bird species like; primates likes; for memorable primate safaris in virunga national park. When you get to the Congo gorilla families, you will have amazing experiences with the primates by observing their behaviour in the park for instance their feeding patterns, their grooming patterns and how they co-exist with one another and at the end of your safari you will take pictures of the primates and you will head back to your hotel for your late lunch, leisure dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Transfer to volcanoes national park

Transfer to volcanoes: On day three of your 6 days Congo and Rwanda safari after early morning breakfast at your hotel, you will embark on your journey to Ruhengeri the home to volcanoes National Park where you will transfer to a hotel near the park for refreshments and lunch. In the evening you can participate in community walks where you will have amazing experiences visiting the local communities understanding their culture through traditional dance, local dishes that are prepared by the locals as they are entertained. in the evening you will transfer back to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Golden Monkey Trekking

Golden Monkey Trekking: On day 4 of your 6 days Congo and Rwanda safari after an early morning breakfast at your hotel, your guide will pick you from your hotel and transfer you to volcanoes national park in order to participate in golden monkey trekking where you will get to understand more about the primate species, on reaching the park, you will transfer to the park headquarters where they will get to know the golden monkey trekking guide in Rwanda, you will also be assigned to the guide and ranger who will ensure you have an amazing activity in the park. During golden monkey trekking, you will get to see a number of attractions like bird species, primate species which will ensure you have an amazing time and when you get the habituated golden monkey troop, you will get to know more about their behavior in the park and get to take pictures of the primates and at the end of your trip you will transfer to you hotel for lunch and leisure and later on you will transfer to the Ibyiwacu cultural villages where you will get to know more about the culture of Rwanda as you are entertained you will participate in a number of activities like community walks, banana beer making, subsistence farming, and preparation of local dishes among other activities and in the evening you will transfer back to your hotel for dinner and over night.

Day 5: Transfer to Akagera national park and Ihema Boat Cruise

Transfer to Akagera national park: On day five of your 6 days Congo and Rwanda safari after an early morning breakfast at your hotel you will be met by your guide for your safari who will transfer you to akagera national park the home to the big five animals in Rwanda. During your transfer, you will get to see a number of attractions on the way to the park like a number of coffee plantations and tea plantations you will have a stopover for lunch and after transfer to Akagera National Park which will offer an amazing experience during your Rwanda tour.
Ihema Boat Cruise: On reaching Akagera National Park, you will participate in the afternoon boat cruise on Lake Ihema where you will get to see a number of animal species like hippopotamuses, Crocodiles and you will also get to see rewarding experiences while you watch the sunset and a number of bird species catching prey like the African king fisher, cormorants, spoonbills, you will also get to see a the endangered shoebills stork along the swamps later on you will transfer to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Early morning game drive and transfer back to Kigali

Early morning game drive and transfer back to Kigali: On day four of your 6 days Congo and Rwanda safari after an early morning breakfast, your guide will transfer you to the park where you will participate in the morning game drive where you will see a number of early risers in the park like all the big five animals the lion and leopards trying to catch prey in the buffalos along the water sources, rhinos grazing in the plains. Other early risers in the park include the zebras, impalas, topis among other attractions in the park. after the rewarding activity, you will be transferred to Kigali city and take part in the Kigali city tour, on reaching Kigali city you will have lunch and after you will participate in the Kigali city tour where you will visit Rwanda’s larges market Kimironko market where you will get to see how Rwandans carry out their daily activities you can also buy souvenirs to take back at home, you will also visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial museum where you will get to know more about the Rwanda genocide and the events that led to the unfortunate event in the country and at the end of your safari, you will be dropped off at a location of your choice in Kigali city.
