Activities in Nyungwe National Park
Activities in Nyungwe National Park is are the different things that any traveler or tourist can choose to be part of their safari in the forest e.g. the canopy walk, chimpanzee trekking e.t.c. Chimpanzee trekking
Chimpanzee trekking is the most common activity in Nyungwe National Park that tourists can participate in to have an amazing time during their Rwanda tour. The park is home to over 1000 chimpanzees of which there are two habituated groups that tourists interested in chimpanzee trekking can track. With chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe national park, it should be noted that tourists under the age of 15 years are not allowed to participate in the activity which can be carried out in cyamudongo forest where the first habituated chimpanzee group can be found or Nyungwe forest where another chimpanzee group can be found.
Chimpanzee trekking in the park involves tourists hiking the different hiking trails in Nyungwe national park in order to access the primate species, during the hike to the primates, tourists will see a number of attractions including monkey species like the vervet monkey, mona monkey, black and white colobus monkey, silver monkey, Dent’s Monkey among other monkey species swinging in the branches, you will also get the chance to see a number of bird species which will make the activities in Nyungwe national park quite memorable. As you get closer to the chimpanzee groups, you will hear loud hoots, clapping among other sounds and that will be an indicator that you are in their territory.

The different bird species that can be seen during birding in Nyungwe National Park include the Pockefellers’s sunbird, Chapin’s flycatcher, Rwenzori Batis, strange weaver, red-throated alethe, the blue turaco, Ross’s turaco, coqui Francolin, long-tailed cisticola, bubbling cisticola, Miombo wren warbler, Chubb’s cisticola among other the bird species.

Hiking

There are two cultural villages in Nyungwe national park that can be visited that will offer amazing experiences while in the park these include the Kitabi cultural village and the Banda cultural village.
