Lulimbi Tented Camp
Lulimbi Tented Camp is one of the top gorilla lodges located at the heart of Virunga National Park, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The lodge is strategically located in one of the most pristine areas of the national park, gracing visitors with spectacular views in the park, among them being the Ishasha River and Lake Edward.

Lulimbi Tented Camp is strategically established on the shoreline of the renowned Ishasha River, which flows through the vast savannah plains of Virunga national park. The tented Camp is a quiet, mid-range accommodation facility located in the center of the Park. It is home to a large concentration of Virunga’s wildlife like; elephants and hippopotamus, buffalos, warthogs, giant forest hogs, Topi, Uganda Kob and crocodiles among others.
Given the fact that the Camp is located in the heart of Virunga, it is a perfect place to go on a birding expedition since the park is home to more than 706 species of birds. Tourists staying at the Camp have the opportunity to see bird species like; Archer’s ground robin, white-browed robin-chat, stonechat, rufous thrush, African thrush, olive thrush, grassland pipit, cinnamon bracken warbler, black-faced rufous warbler, Chubb’s cisticola, banded prinia, chestnut-throated apalis, grey-backed camaroptera, white-browed crombec, black-throated wattle-eye, chinspot batis, mountain illadopsis, malachite sunbird, collared sunbird, variable sunbird, yellow white-eye and so many more.
Lulimbi Tented Camp is apparently the only one of its kind that is located in the eastern part of the park’s central point; in the Ishasha Valley. The camp gives visitors the opportunity actively take part in conservation projects in Virunga; as well as view some of the spectacular savannah wildlife that live in the national park.
Lulimbi Tented Camp in Congo has 10 private tents; four tents with two twin beds, another four with double beds and the other two tents have three twin beds. Each of the tents in this accommodation facility has basic toiletries, a clean en-suite bathroom with hot water running. The camp also has 8 canvas tents, each with a view of the Ishasha River; a private balcony, flush toilets and solar water heater for the showers.
The camp also has a restaurant and ample space to wine and dine with friends and family. There is also a lounge tent that features a well-stocked bar; this provides the perfect ambience for visitors to relax and take in the scenery around. However, it is important for all visitors to note that alcoholic beverages are available at the camp at an extra cost. All accommodation prices at the camp are inclusive of breakfast, lunch, dinner and 16% government VAT.

How to get to Lulimbi Tented Camp.
Lulimbi Tented Camp in Virunga national park can be accessed by road from Goma. Visitors planning to stay at the accommodation facility will have to travel to Goma, which can be easily accessed from Rwanda. It is about a 4 hours’ drive from Kigali International Airport to Goma via the border at Le Grande Barrier near Gisenyi town. Once you have been cleared by officials at the immigration office, you will be transferred to the camp in Virunga national Park.
