Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Lake Kivu and coffee tour
At a location of your choice in Kigali city, you will be picked up by a representative of our tour company who will be your guide for the day. On meeting up with the guide, you will participate in the briefing session for the experience and then embark on your way to the Lake. You will drive southwards to having a stopover in Butare, where you will visit the national museum of Rwanda, the king’s palace in Nyanza with lunch en-route. After you will make your way to the Nyamirundi Island on the lake, where you will visit ‘Ingoboka’ a coffee plantation which you will get to watch how the coffee is grown, you will also get the chance to watch how the coffee is processed from it being harvest, dried and then processed into some of the best coffee in the world. Interesting about your coffee tour you will also get to have a cup of coffee. Later on you will connect with your guide to participate in the boat cruise which will offered exceptional views of the different bird species, the marine life and many other attractions. After the safari experience you will transfer to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Boat cruise, and transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Wake up early morning, have an amazing breakfast at your lodge and later transfer to participate in the boat cruise on lake Kivu. Exploring the lake will give you a breathtaking experience as you observe the neighboring hills, diverse bird species and a number of rewarding attractions. This 1hour safari experience will give you the utmost experience as you enjoy the boat ride along the lake enjoying the cool breeze for a memorable safari experience. After the rewarding experience, you will make your way participate in fishing on lake Kivu which will give you access to over 69 fish species. Fishing as an activity is quite a time consuming activity but worthy all the time you get top spend on it because it is quite relaxing. After the safari experience, you will make your way to Volcanoes National Park having lunch en-route. You will reach in time for dinner and overnight stay at your hotel.
Day 3: Gorilla trekking in Rwanda
After an early morning breakfast at your hotel, you will be picked up from your hotel with your packed lunch to transfer you . our guide will meet you after having your breakfast and your lunches packed and he will take you to Kinigi Headquarters where you are expected to be given a brief before starting the gorilla trek. This brief is done at 7am. You are given guidelines during this brief before you are allowed to start the trek. This gorilla trek can take to about 2 hours to half a day as its unpredictable. When you finally find the gorillas, you will have to maintain a 7 meters’ distance and you are allowed one hour to admire and take photos of the gorillas. During the time you spend with the gorillas you will get the opportunity to understand a number of their rewarding features like how they co-exist with one another, you will get to watch the duty of the dominant silverback whose role is to mate with the adult females to increase the members of the family, raid other gorilla families for their members, you will watch the juveniles grooming one another for a rewarding safari experience. After the experience, you will participate in iby’iwacu cultural visit which will give you an insight about the unique culture of Rwanda through their food and cultural dances. After the experience, you will head back to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Explore the Musanze caves and drop off in Kigali city
After an early morning breakfast at your hotel, you will make your way to the park to participate in the exploration of musanze caves which have a unique cultural significance in Rwanda. The caves were used as the coronation grounds for the kings of Rwanda and during the 1994 Rwanda genocide where over a million of Rwandans were killed. After the experience, you will head back to Kigali city, where you will be dropped off at a location of your choice and the end of your 4 days Rwanda gorillas and Lake Kivu adventure safari.
